Adam was born and raised in the dramatic beauty of Hanalei on the North Shore of Kauai, Hawaii. Living in nature and growing up like the Swiss Family Robinson with surfing, spear fishing, kayaking, and hiking in the Garden Island’s rainforests, mountains, rivers, and waterfalls—his three brothers and both parents practiced art daily. The island’s laid-back atmosphere and rich culture in its small towns shaped a truly timeless way of life for Adam and his creative family.
“The spiritual realm of nature and the art museums of Paris opened my eyes to painting and what was possible. Particularly Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard. Jean-August-Dominique Ingres’ Grange Odalisque was the first painting that brought tears to my eyes when I came upon it at the Louvre. Another tear fest was at the Georgia O’Keefe Museum in Santa Fe.”
Adam’s creativity is driven by his deep connection with the miracle of nature and his love for the masculine and feminine energies in the human and spiritual domains. “I’m motivated and deeply curious to see what the colors do when put next to each other and mixed together. I love watching paint lay onto surface from a brush or knife. It’s so magical to see it come to life.”
Adam’s first art exhibit was held in 1980 at the prestigious Hawaiʻi State Museum of Natural and Cultural History. His contour drawing was selected in a group exhibit showcasing young upcoming Hawaiian artists.

“For me, creating is a dance with god. Allowing the Universe to show me its absolute wonder through nature and people. Then I do the very best I can to relay as I see it to the canvas. My mantra is to ‘Love more at all cost’”.
