In channeling Michelangelo’s masterpiece, I’m turning the emotions upside-down, portraying a total disconnect between generations. Everything is a show here, everything is for sale, as if the maternal figure is holding a press conference, basking in the limelight. Meanwhile, with a revolver hanging from his limp hand, it’s unclear whether the son has killed himself or someone else. His body is lifeless, and his soul may be dead. In an era that thrives on sensationalism, a world of stupid headlines and no substance whatsoever, everything is breaking news.
