Glorious Day on the Moon

“Welcome to the Moon!” Ava seems to be telling us as she looks back over her shoulder. Brimming with confidence and in an excellent mood, she is like a lunar influencer—inviting, charming, and attractive. Being on the moon is fabulous, she wants us to know. Adding to the normalcy of this setting, her daughter is even practicing her fencing routine. Neither of them seems to be aware or concerned that the blazing sun is so close—there’s nothing real about that, either. Add the apparent lack of atmosphere and it’s clear that this happiness, this normalcy, is fake, manufactured, and out of touch—an illusion of joy.
