Last Man on the Moon

Channeling Michelangelo’s David, the young man looks almost heroic. There is something biblical about his loneliness on the lunar surface. Is he a superhero or the last survivor with no future? What is he holding? Is this jaguar cub, wearing a crownlike papal tiara, the symbol of some sort of personal religion? Are we witnessing the beginning of something new, or the last pathetic semblance of ages-old spirituality? Does the young man see something on the horizon? Or is he just staring into the void of the universe?
